LPG Power Generation

What is LPG power generation?

It is the use of LPG as fuel to produce electricity, in place of diesel power generation that contributes to high air pollution in areas where direct supply of electricity produced by inland power plants is difficult.

Why do we need LPG power generation?

Until recently, the islands and mountains areas had been underdeveloped in terms of energy supply, where small diesel power generators were installed to supply electricity, as the inland high-capacity power could not be connected to those areas. Currently, 92.4% of the power generation facilities in the islands and mountains areas use engine generators such as diesel, and 40.5% of them are over 20 years old, making it difficult to provide stable electricity. In addition, even though internal combustion engines for large-scale power generation are subject to strict emission regulations, no the absence of emission regulations for small generators has caused serious air pollution in islands areas. In order to improve the environmental conditions of islands and mountains areas, and protect the health of residents, the diesel power generation should be minimized while introducing eco-friendly electricity generation to the areas.

Advantages of the LPG power generation

· It reduces nitrogen oxides, sulfur, and particulate matter created by power generation, and generates less noise.
· It reduces fuel cost by 40%, compared to conventional diesel generators.
· Gas supply through the LPG pipeline network enables integrated supply of LPG for heating, hot water, and cooking.
· Storage and transport of fuel is easy, which also makes fuel supply easy and stable.

What are the benefits of LPG power generation?

It emits less
particulate matters.

Compared to oil or coal power generation, LPG creates 80% less particulate matters.

It achieves high thermal efficiency.

The combined heat and power (CHP) generates electricity and useful heat at the same time, achieving 30% higher efficiency, compared to kerosene or electric heating.

Its integrated supply of air conditioning and heating is economical.

Gas heat pump (GHP) allows integrated supply of air conditioning and heating, thereby reducing costs.
